Lankan Lions had Indian Lamb Curry - ICC World Cup 2007

Sri Lankans clinically annihilated India and there was no secret formula, they did their job for which they were paid for in a professional manner. And what was the job, to go out and bat, bowl and field well. And still their players get a much lesser remuneration than our so called superstars.

Yes this is a game after all, and I would not have been upset had Indians shown a semblance of a fight, but to surrender meekly was simply unacceptable. The Lankans had nothing to lose, but the way they played it was as though everything depended on this match and it was the opposite with the Indians. At the end of this game the biggest smile was not on the Sri Lankan players face, but the Bangladeshi players who had come to see the decimation of the Indians.

I am sure a lot of journalists and news channel would have already written their obituaries about this Indian cricket team. But I can only say is that people should remember that this was a collective failure of team India and not any individuals. We simply did not look like any world beaters.

Theoritically we still have a chance, provided the Bermudians defeat the Bangladeshis. But that is a very very remote possibility, but if Ireland can defeat Pakistan and Bangladeshi can defeat India, we can assume that there is a flicker of a chance, as they say cricket is a game of glorious uncertainities, and this world cup proved exactly that.

Even if we do not make it to the next round, this is not the end of the road for Indian cricket. Indian cricket will always survive, but hopefully the Indian fans learn a lesson out of this and stop hero worshipping our cricket players. Remember they are paid to do a job and they have failed miserably in that job so far and the team and the board should be held accountable for this. I hope the fans do not start burning effigies and vandalising the cricketers house for losing, instead the worst possible punishment that can be given to them is ignoring them or in a way ostracizing them.

Congratulations Team Sri Lanka, you did your job as expected and you were worth every penny your board paid you.

Team India didn't play well as unit. It still depends on individual batsman at times. Bowling and fielding is well below par. Team need to do lot of changes to shine again. But one thing for sure, they'll have a worst reception when they come back to India.

Good lively blog and add my blog http://realfun247.blogspot.com in your link and will do the same for you.

Dear Sammy,
When I totally agree with your views, I have to mention and emphasise that Indian Cricket has entered politics being managed by politicians. All our players with out any exception has been let loose to do whateverv they like and in fact the kind of money they make as Brand Ambassadors, and advertisement are much more than what they earn by(not)playing.
BCCI, Sponsers, ICC all together have to come with strigent rules. And the team needed to be re-shuffled frequently and bring in competitiveness amongst players, so that they will work hard and play to remain in the team. All kinds of Brand Ambassodors, advertisement partiicipation should totally be banned. All these players eneter into team play for a while and the moment they get opportunities in the advertisement arena, they forget cricket, screw up the game, upset the cricket lovers and put the nation to utter shame. All these guys for now deserves a kick in their....ss.The present coach is an embodiment of a baffoon and should be removed forthwith and replace by a Great former Indian player, we have plenty.
Save Indian Cricket, Keep happy Indian Cricket Lovers and Save India's image in cricket the game managers and administrators.

Dear Sammy,
I just cannot agree with Anand Bai's views. Money is everything and its not the ULTIMATE. Players have been selected to play and win and bring glory to India and happiness to Cricket Lovers. These guys lack concentration, detremination, conviction, enthusiasm etc while playing where as all these are in plenty when they turn out to be BAs and Ad guys.

Loosing to the new entrants like Burmuda and recently entered like B.Desh is nothing but utter shame.

Given a chance every one can make money after fulfilling their assigned Goal, aim, target etc.

I think Indian cricket has to be brought under marketing cat by BCCI and fix target/slabs in batting, bowling, fielding etc. And those who does'nt achieve target throw them out w/o paying, then you will see how this guys will play and will also understand the true meaning of SLOGGING. Now they know the meaning of only SLUGISHNESS.

Too much of money make the players to enjoy the tase of Honey and keep licking honey instead of performing in the field.

And for PAWAR a tip and bit of advice, to keep the image of cricket he has to induct in the Indian Team POWERFUL players and not PAWARFUL players.

I look forward to drastic change in the Indian Team, coach, selectors etc. etc.

As the team returns to India let all the cricket lovers for this time extend a boiling water welcome and nota warm welcome.
